CIEC (International Centre for Contemporary Printmaking)

Printmaking workshop and museum, housed in the modernist building created by Rafael González Villar for the Núñez family.

The CIEC Foundation, the International Centre for Contemporary Printmaking, is a private foundation created on 7 April 1997 as a result of the dedication of the artist Jesús Núñez, with the aim of promoting and disseminating the visual arts in general and graphic art in particular. The CIEC Foundation carries out numerous activities and initiatives, among which its educational and exhibition programmes stand out. The organisation of courses and workshops throughout the year, together with the creation in 2003 of the Master’s Programme in Graphic Art, highlights the importance of this activity, as does the large number of teachers, artists and students who have taken part. The exhibition of works from the Collection, the organisation of temporary exhibitions, guided tours and educational visits for schools and the general public, workshops for children, and participation in art fairs all contribute significantly to a better understanding and dissemination of graphic art and its artists. In addition, publications, editions, lectures, book presentations, concerts and other events have turned the CIEC Foundation into a major reference point in the field of contemporary printmaking. The CIEC Foundation Collection offers a broad overview of contemporary graphic art, ranging from the most realistic languages to abstraction, further enriched by the diversity of techniques used in printmaking. It includes works by great masters alongside established artists and young creators who have trained in the Foundation’s own workshops or in art schools and faculties around the world. Barjola, Canogar, David de Almeida, Genovés, Jordanov, Gabriella Locci, Antonio Lorenzo, Maruja Mallo, Picasso and Saura are just a few examples among its more than 3,000 works.
