Church of As Angustias

Church of As Angustias

18th-century Baroque church with a Latin cross plan, notable for its imposing stone façade.

Baroque-style church from the 18th century (1750). It has a Latin cross plan, with a transept topped by a dome. A high choir is located at the foot of the nave. The spatial layout is organized around the transept, with four semicircular arches giving access to the side chapels, the presbytery and the nave, all of which are covered with vaulted ceilings. The exterior decoration is concentrated on the main façade, divided into two sections. The first, rectangular and crowned by a cornice, is divided into three areas. The second corresponds to the bell tower. The building is an interesting example of Galician Baroque, combining structural sobriety with a rich interplay of geometric elements.
