The Modernism Route proposes a journey through Betanzos to discover the main examples of modernist and eclectic architecture linked to the city’s urban development in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The itinerary allows visitors to explore singular buildings promoted by indianos families and local benefactors, as well as representative works of a period marked by aesthetic innovation, the use of new materials, and special attention to ornamental detail. Through this route, visitors can understand how modernism left its mark on the city’s image and helped to shape part of its architectural and cultural identity.
