Wine, Sanctuaries and Rivers Route

Wine, Sanctuaries and Rivers Route

Route through Betanzos’ rural surroundings following the Mandeo and Mendo rivers, vineyards and sanctuaries, with two natural and heritage itineraries.

The aim of this route is to showcase all the heritage that Betanzos possesses outside its urban centre. With the Mandeo and Mendo rivers as the guiding axis, it also highlights the vineyards surrounding Betanzos and its most important devotional sanctuaries (Os Remedios and As Angustias). Two itineraries were designed to explore the rural and natural areas of Betanzos. Route 1: Sanctuary of Os Remedios, municipal cemetery, Church of San Martiño de Tiobre (1), Campo de San Paio, English Way and Pelamios River Route (2), and a visit to a local traditional wine cellar. Route 2: Sanctuary of As Angustias (3), Pazo de Illobre (4), the village of Roibeira (5), Picachá Fountain (6), Church of San Martiño de Bravío (7), and a visit to a Betanzos wine cellar in the area (8).
