Manuel Naveira Asylum

Manuel Naveira Asylum

Charitable building from 1914, promoted by Manuel Naveira González, eclectic in style and now converted into a hotel.

Building located in the center of Betanzos, constructed in the 20th century (1914) by the Zamoran architect Pedro Ramiro Mariño, who was also the author of the City Hall of A Coruña. The building has an H-shaped floor plan with two levels. It features abundant vegetal and geometric decoration throughout, especially on the main façade, which is accessed via a monumental staircase. This façade is crowned by a niche containing a sculpture of a woman feeding a child, an allusion to charity. The asylum was promoted by Don Manuel Naveira González, a benefactor of the town, for the poor, the blind, and the deaf-mute. Today it houses a hotel establishment.
